TITLE:   Patent Prosecutiion Secretary/Paralegal                              BG73

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Prepare and file new patent applications, i.e., utility, continuation, divisional, continuation-in-part, reissue applications and design applications, Responses to Missing Parts, Assignments, Information Disclosure Statements, Issue Fee Transmittals, including any additional necessary documents with the USPTO, Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) or in national or regional patent offices globally. A CPL will generally be assigned to a specific client or clients and will work directly with the responsible attorneys. This position has a billable hours requirement. Specific responsibilities include: Interface with specific clients to address their needs and requirements; Prepare and file new patent applications, i.e. utility, continuation, divisional, continuation-in-part, PCT, European and filings in other countries through foreign agents.
Also review and proofread a variety of documents from the USPTO, prepare documents for correction, if necessary, and report those documents directly to the client; monitor and satisfy client-specific dockets.
Keep attorneys informed of the status of applications.  Perform research and compile data as requested by attorneys.  Various other tasks as requested and needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS:  5+ years of US patent prosecution experience in a law firm environment
Thorough knowledge of USPTO rules and practices, including knowledge of PAIR and e-filing
Ability to meet the firm's billable hours requirement while maintaining excellent service and producing consistently high quality work product that meets and exceeds the Firm's quality standards.
Availability to work overtime as well as excellent data-entry and organizational skills; strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to plan, organize,  prioritize, and coordinate projects.  Ability to work well as a team member; strong interpersonal skills to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff and to provide information with courtesy and tact.  Ability to create, edit, and proofread (e.g., punctuation, grammar, spelling) routine memorandus and correspondence.  Ability to multitask and work independently as well as  use good judgment, initiative, and command of resources to accomplish results.  Flexibility and ability to prioritize a continually changing workload
Ability to type at least 60+ wpm accurately.  Proficiency with MS Office Suite is a must.  Knowledge of foreign and PCT patent practice is a must.  Experience with filing sequence listings is a plus.

SALARY:  $60,000 - $80,000.
